The mission of the Southlake Association of Gifted and Talented (SAGT) is to promote and encourage advanced academics, specifically the education of gifted and talented (GT) students in the Carroll Independent School District (CISD).
SAGT GRANT PROGRAM:
Each year, SAGT provides grants to selected CISD teachers to support innovative and creative instructional approaches and activities that enhance student learning in GT classrooms at all grade levels. SAGT grant funds may be used for the following:
Student enrichment activities and resources
Classroom and maker-space equipment and technology needs
Teacher training and professional development
New instructional approaches or curriculum
For example, last year, SAGT grant funds provided resources such as STEAM engineering kits, a colorimeter for chemistry students, a dedicated refrigerator for biology students, LEGO Spike Essentials, 3D pens, board games, collaborative learning tables, flexible seating, as well as some technology resources for teachers.
ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:
Quest and GT teachers at all grade levels are eligible to apply.
The requesting teacher must be a current SAGT Member. A complimentary teacher membership is available here.
Only CISD approved vendors may be included in the project. Please inquire with your campus secretary for an approved vendor list.
Applications for SAGT Teacher Grant requests will open Friday, September 4th, 2026.
Grant applications will close on Friday, September 18th, 2026 at midnight.
Incomplete applications or those received after the deadline will not be considered.
All teacher training and professional development requests must be approved by the campus principal prior to applying for the SAGT grant.
Any items that require additional district approval, and may arrive late in the year, will not be considered. Requested items for consideration should be items that students will benefit from for the current school year.
By applying for the grant, you agree to submit pictures and/or video of your item in action in your classroom to grants@southlakegifted.org. These may be used on our website, newsletter and social media to inform our membership of how their contributions are spent.
AWARDS:
Applicants will receive notification by Friday, September 25, 2026, and are optionally invited to attend the SAGT check presentation to CISD Trustees at a CISD school board meeting tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2026.

2025-26
Grant Awards
During the 2025-26 school year the SAGT Grants Committee approved and funded $9,382 in grant requests to enhance learning in GT classrooms. These funds will directly support gifted students in the classroom by providing resources such as VEX robotics parts, LEGO spike kits, rotary motion sensors, video camcorders, laboratory digital balances, vertical hydroponics, and flex seating like standing desks, tall chairs, and large tables for collaborative learning.
SAGT provides complimentary memberships to CISD GT teachers. The membership includes a luncheon to welcome back our GT teachers at the beginning of the school year, a trip to the yearly conference held by TAGT, wishlist fulfillment and grant eligibility.
Here’s some feedback from our GT faculty:
“Our first day using our new equipment from SAGT! We are in our Informational Unit, and the students are creating Infomercials! They are very excited. Thank you so much.” - Christy Tidwell, CMS
