CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SAGT $1500 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER!
Sydney Fraser
Each year, through membership and donations, SAGT is able to offer a $1500 scholarship to one Carroll High School Senior. The senior selected is one we believe has developed his or her special gift, and through leadership and community service, used that gift to positively impact the community or world.
SAGT is proud to present the 2023 SAGT Scholarship to senior, Sydney Fraser.
Sydney has a gift for leadership, public speaking, and youth advocacy. Sydney leads the Carroll Speech Team, is Captain of Emerald Belles, founded a new Carroll Model United Nations Team, was chosen to represent Carroll at Texas Girls State which is an elite leadership development program for young women. Of the 600 girls attending Girls State, Sydney was chosen as one of two girls to represent Texas at Girls Nation where she was honored at The White House and Captiol Hill.
Sydney's teacher recommender states: "What sets this student apart is their gift of leadership. People are drawn to this student. (She) has a lot of energy, is full of ideas, and is always ready to try something new."
"Many of (my students) are sharp, critical thinkers – and this student is too – but at the heart of it, this student is a gifted public speaker."
"It’s their intense focus on being excellent at everything they do that makes this student special."
Sydney is planning to attend University of Michigan in Ann Arbor this fall where she plans to continue building her skills in public speaking and advocacy. Her hope is to work on Capitol Hill. She believes she can be a "change-maker in our world".
CONGRATULATIONS SYDNEY!
